Temper Tantrum

okay, i'm getting really fucking sick of all this crap going on between Israel and Pakistan over fucking Gaza, and it's REALLY pissing me off....

why doesn't the U.N. just say, "okay, fuck it, this peice of land belongs to NO ONE. okay? stop the pointless temper tantrum and DEAL WITH IT!" gah!

i swear, all this pointless fighting on the news and crap is really starting to get to me. i refuse to deal with it ANY MORE!!!!!!!!

and any second now, i'm going to spontaniously combust because Tony, who is sitting next to me in Career Investigations, right now, is being increadibly annoying and i think i'm going to hit him over the head with something REALLY hard and hopefully give him worse brain damage he already has.

ASS!!!

The U.N. is not the supreme commander of the S.S. Diplomacy. Both sides would feel shafted and it seems quite unlikely that they will mutually say, "Well, quite an arduos fight you provided. Jolly good sport. I must admit I was quite amused at your nearly-futile attempt to claim this land, mate, but I should be leaving. Now that the U.N., having complete jurdisdiction over both of our nations, has deemed this land, "No Mans Land," quite literally and figuratively. So, it seems none of us will ever hold dominion over this country. Well, damn, what a petty inconvenience."

I think not, ma'am.

Great point of view. Trouble is, as the response above mine alludes, the U.N. really doesn't really have the authority or ability to call and enforce an effective cease fire.

This is a war that's been going on longer than any of the recent bombings and military actions...longer than any of us have been alive...longer than we'd like to admit. While there's been "relative" peace from time to time, this has been disputed country for many centuries...back to Old Testament times with Samson and David and others, then more "modern times" in the 1600s & 1700s...and then becoming a modern military hotbed through the 20th century.

Both sides are fighting extremely deep seeded religious battles for causes they believe in to their core. Any external third party calling a cease-fire is ignored or viewed as an enemy.

Sadly, there is no real winning here. :(
